Humans in A Loop– A Gentle, Powerful Reflection on Technology and Labour

I recently watched Humans In A Loop on Netflix after a close friend from Mumbai highly recommended it — and I’m so glad I did. Directed by Aranya Sahay, the film tells a deeply moving story about Adivasi women in rural India who work as data labelers for AI systems.

Aranya brings to life a modern-day reality that is both meditative and unsettling, showing how international tech companies rely on Indigenous labour in places like Jharkhand, while often silencing the very voices that make their systems possible.

The film is beautifully crafted and supported by strong performances from Sonal Madhushankar, Vikas Gupta, and Ridhima Singh. It’s executive produced by Biju Toppo and Kiran Rao, whose touch ensures both authenticity and heart.

At its core, Humans in A Loop asks a haunting question: Are we moving forward with technology, or are we caught in its endless loop?

It’s a quiet yet powerful film — one that lingers long after the credits roll.
