Salman Khan faces backlash over ‘ceasefire’ tweet

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has landed in controversy after sharing a short message on social media regarding the India-Pakistan ceasefire, which was brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump. The actor had maintained a conspicuous silence during India’s military operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam. But shortly after the ceasefire was announced, Khan took to Twitter to post, “Thank God for the ceasefire,” sparking a flurry of criticism online.

Operation Sindoor, India’s counteroffensive targeting terrorist strongholds, was met with widespread support from the film industry and the general public. Despite this, Salman Khan chose not to comment on the military action or express solidarity with the armed forces. His only prior remark was a condolence message issued in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

Many on social media deemed his ceasefire tweet as poorly timed and tone-deaf, accusing the actor of ignoring the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.
