Calgary police are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a woman in her 80s after she was struck by a vehicle in the city’s southeast.

Investigators say the woman was crossing Ninth Avenue Southeast at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday when she was hit by a southbound car. She was taken to hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police say the driver, a man in his 60s, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Officers do not believe speed or impairment played a role in the crash.
