Police investigate suspicious sudden death

Police are investigating after a man died in hospital following his discovery suffering from serious injuries early Sunday morning.

On August 10, 2025, at 12:42 a.m., the Port Alberni RCMP received a report of an assault near the intersection of Johnston Road and Victoria Quay. There, police located a man suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts.

Port Alberni RCMP General Investigation Section has assumed conduct of this ongoing investigation and is working to determine the circumstances that led to the man’s death. Based on the initial information this death is being treated as suspicious.

The deceased has been identified; however, their name is not being released at this time.

Anyone with any information, CCTV or dash cam video, is urged to contact the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424.

On August 11, 2025 at 1:42pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 North at the 269 Rd, just north of Fort St John. It was reported that an SUV had collided with a tanker truck. Fort St John RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and Charlie Lake and Fort St John Fire Services all attended the scene.
