Surrey police investigate suspected extortion-related shooting in Bear Creek neighbourhood
Surrey police say they are investigating an extortion-related shooting after a residence was damaged by gunfire early Saturday in the city’s Bear Creek neighbourhood.
In a news release, Surrey Police Service said officers were called at about 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2026 to the 8600 block of Galway Crescent after reports of shots fired outside a home. Police said the residence was occupied at the time, was damaged by gunfire, and no one was injured.
SPS said its Frontline Investigative Support Team attended and the Major Crime Section has taken conduct of the investigation. Police said investigators believe the incident is extortion-related and officers may return to the area as they continue to look for physical and digital evidence.
Police are asking anyone with information - including CCTV or dashcam footage - to contact SPS at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (or solvecrime.ca) and quote file 26-5510 (SP).
