Nearly six years after the body of 24-year-old Edi Bogere was found on a vacant forested property in Maple Ridge, homicide investigators say charges have now been approved in the case.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirms that a 31-year-old Port Coquitlam man has been charged in connection with Bogere’s death, which was first deemed suspicious in January 2020 after Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to the scene and requested IHIT assistance.

Investigators believe Bogere was last seen leaving his home in Coquitlam on the evening of December 27, 2019. His body was discovered two weeks later, prompting a lengthy investigation involving Ridge Meadows RCMP, Coquitlam RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service.

IHIT says the extended investigation ultimately led to the arrest of Alan Mohammed Taheri on December 19, 2025. The BC Prosecution Service has approved one count of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of indignity to human remains.

IHIT Officer-in-Charge Supt. Mandeep Mooker said homicide investigations often take years to reach the charge approval stage due to their complexity, adding that investigators remained committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Bogere’s death. Police say no further details will be released as the matter is now before the courts.
