A man has died following a collision between two transport trucks on Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon, a stretch of roadway heavily used by commercial drivers moving goods through British Columbia. The crash happened Monday morning on Tank Hill Bridge, north of Lytton, and is now the focus of a police investigation into whether criminal driving behaviour may have contributed.

BC Highway Patrol says the collision occurred shortly before 9 a.m. when a northbound Kenworth truck hauling two empty flat-deck trailers struck a southbound Volvo pulling two enclosed trailers. The 49-year-old Volvo driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Kenworth driver was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators say they are examining the actions of both drivers before the impact, a process that typically includes reviewing vehicle data, driver logs, and roadway conditions. Police have already interviewed several witnesses but are encouraging anyone with dashcam footage or additional information to come forward.

The Fraser Canyon corridor is a critical link for transportation in B.C., and serious crashes often lead to lengthy closures that affect communities and commercial traffic across the province. Police say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
