Pakistan probes deadly Islamabad court bombing that killed 12

BY Connect Newsroom - Jasmine Singh, Nov 12, 2025 2:05 PM - REPORT AN ERROR

Authorities in Pakistan are investigating a suicide bombing that left 12 people dead outside a district court in Islamabad, an attack that has renewed concerns about the country’s fragile security situation.

Officials said forensic experts and police teams were examining the blast site on Wednesday, while families gathered at a local hospital to claim the bodies of their relatives. The explosion occurred a day earlier near the court complex, striking one of the capital’s busiest judicial areas.

The bombing comes as Pakistan continues to face a wave of militant violence, particularly from groups operating along the border with Afghanistan. Security forces have carried out repeated operations in recent years to dismantle militant networks, but Tuesday’s attack suggests such groups retain the ability to strike in sensitive locations.

Analysts say the incident could test the government’s ongoing efforts to stabilize internal security amid tensions along the Afghan frontier and political challenges at home. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
