Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel abroad later this month for official visits to the United Arab Emirates and South Africa, as part of efforts to boost trade, investment, and international partnerships.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary, set for November 18 to 24, includes bilateral meetings in Abu Dhabi before attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. The trip aims to advance new economic opportunities and attract investment to strengthen Canada’s long-term growth.

In Abu Dhabi, Carney is scheduled to meet with the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss expanding cooperation in energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. He will also meet with business leaders to promote Canadian exports and encourage private investment in national infrastructure.

The Johannesburg summit marks the first time South Africa has hosted the G20 and the first such gathering on the African continent. Canada is expected to highlight its priorities in sustainable energy, trade, and defence while building on commitments from its recent G7 presidency. Carney’s participation will focus on expanding partnerships in sectors such as critical minerals, clean technology, and agriculture.
