Punjab Cabinet approves withdrawal of land pooling policy
The Punjab Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today approved the formal withdrawal of the land pooling policy. The state government had announced the withdrawal of this policy a few days ago amid protests by farmers.
Under this, 65,533 acres of land were to be acquired in 164 villages of the state. The state’s farmers’ organizations had announced to continue the struggle until the notification was cancelled in the cabinet meeting. This policy was brought by the Bhagwant Mann government in May.

Death toll in Kashmir flash floods rises to at least 32, Indian officials say
At least 32 people are dead in flash floods caused by torrential rains in a remote, mountainous village in Indian-controlled Kashmir, a top disaster management official said Thursday.
Mohammed Irshad said rescue teams scouring the devastated Himalayan village of Chositi brought at least 100 people to safety. He said initial estimations suggested at least 50 others were still missing.
India’s deputy minister for science and technology, Jitendra Singh, said the floods were triggered by a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Chositi area and “could result in substantial casualty.”

Punjab government withdraws land pooling policy
The Punjab government has withdrawn the controversial land pooling policy. In this regard, the Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development of the Punjab government issued a letter today.
It has been said that the Punjab Land Policy and its related amendments brought on May 14, 2025 are being withdrawn.

Surrey: Shots fired for the second time on Kap's Cafe
Gunfire struck Kap’s Café early Tuesday morning, less than a month after the same Surrey business was first attacked in July.

Demand for live streaming of Majithia case hearing: Application filed in Mohali court

School roof collapse in western India kills 8 children and injures at least 27
The roof of a government middle school building collapsed Friday inIndia’swestern state of Rajasthan, killing 8 children and injuring at least 27, a senior police official said.
The collapse occurred soon after the students had reached their classrooms and were about to start the school assembly, said police official Amit Kumar.
It is still unclear what caused the roof to collapse.
The school, located in Piplod village of Jhalawar district, has students studying up to eighth grade, or what is called a middle school in India.
A total of around 35 students were present when the roof collapsed.
