Former US President Donald Trump has nominated Chandigarh-born, Punjabi-origin Harmeet Kaur Dhillon as the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice.

Trump made this announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social. Dhillon, 54, is a renowned lawyer known for her work in protecting civil rights. While nominating her, Trump praised her contributions to civil liberties.

Trump said that he is pleased to nominate Harmeet Kaur Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice. He added that she has consistently championed the protection of civil liberties throughout her career.

Notably, Harmeet Kaur Dhillon was born in Chandigarh and migrated to the US with her parents during her childhood.
