Work will get underway in fall 2025 on a project to replace the aging Sackum overhead bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Lytton, improving safety and supporting the long-term reliability of Highway 1 in the region. On August 10, 2025, at 12:42 a.m., the Port Alberni RCMP received a report of an assault near the intersection of Johnston Road and Victoria Quay.
