Amritpal Singh has argued in his petition that he has been unable to attend the proceedings of the Lok Sabha for 46 days.

Amritpal Singh, a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Khadoor Sahib constituency in Punjab, is facing a threat to his membership in the Lok Sabha. In light of this, he has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek permission to attend the Budget Session of Parliament.

According to parliamentary rules, if an MP remains absent from the proceedings of the Lok Sabha for 60 days, their membership may be canceled. Amritpal Singh has argued in his petition that he has been unable to attend the proceedings of the Lok Sabha for 46 days. He also received a letter from the Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha warning that if he does not attend, his membership could be canceled.

In his petition, Amritpal Singh contends that this issue would not only affect him personally but also the 19 lakh people in his constituency. Therefore, he has requested to be allowed to attend the Budget Session of Parliament.

It is important to note that Amritpal Singh is currently detained in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA).
