Royal Challengers Bengaluru team win IPL title

Royal Challengers Bengaluru team is the new IPL champion. In the final match played today, RCB defeated Punjab Kings .Batting first, RCB scored 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Virat Kohli was the highest scorer for RCB with a knock of 43 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Jamieson picked 3 wickets each for Punjab. Chasing 191 to win, Punjab lost the game by 6 wickets. The final score for the Punjab team was 184 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Shashank Singh played a knock of 61 runs off 30 balls, but the innings was not enough to take Punjab to the title win.

This is RCB’s first title win in their 4 IPL finals. RCB had qualified for the IPL finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016.For Punjab, this was the second time the team qualified for the final. Before this, Punjab had qualified for the final in 2014.

VPD investigates pedestrian fatality

Vancouver Police are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred last night, and are asking anyone with information to call police. The pedestrian, a 38-year-old man, was struck by a white Tesla at the intersection of Terminal Avenue and Western Street September 25 just before 8:30 p.m. Despite life-saving attempts from first responders, the pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene. Speed and impairment are not considered factors in the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.

Talks to resume between B.C. government and its public service union
