During this visit, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the local people and farmers facing problems due to floods.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who reached Punjab, visited the flood-affected areas of Amritsar district on Thursday. During this, he met the local people and farmers and listened to their problems and took stock of the damage to crops due to flooding in the fields.

Apart from Amritsar, Union Minister Chouhan also planned to visit Kapurthala and Gurdaspur districts, after which he was to hold a meeting with the officials in Amritsar.

The Union Minister said that I want to assure my farmer brothers and sisters and other flood-affected people that the Central Government is constantly monitoring the situation and all possible help will be provided in collaboration with the state government.

Calgary teen dies after avalanche near Nakiska ski area

A 15-year-old skier from Calgary has died after being buried in an avalanche near the Nakiska ski area west of Calgary, according to the Cochrane RCMP. Police said officers were called just before 1 p.m. Friday to reports that two people were missing following an avalanche near the Nakiska Ski Area in Kananaskis Country. The ski area is located about 45 kilometres west of Calgary. Mounties said one of the skiers was able to free themselves from the snow.
