Surrey police release images of two men charged in firearm investigation

Surrey Police Service has released photographs of two men charged in connection with a firearm-related investigation from January 26, saying the step is necessary to advance the ongoing case.

Police identified the accused as Harshdeep Singh and Hanspreet Singh. Investigators say the public release of their images is intended to encourage witnesses, victims, or individuals with relevant information to come forward regarding the activities of either man on or before the date of the alleged offence.

According to Surrey police, the decision to release photos is made on a case-by-case basis and only when it is legally justified. In this instance, police say the disclosure aligns with provisions of British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, which allows images of arrested persons to be shared if doing so may further an active investigation or help locate additional witnesses.

The investigation is taking place against the backdrop of ongoing concerns around extortion and firearm-related crime in Surrey and the Lower Mainland. In September 2025, the Surrey Extortion Reward Fund was established, offering up to $250,000 for information that leads to charges and convictions connected to extortion-related offences.
