Coordinated Police Operation on Vancouver Island Targets Gang-Linked Drug Networks

BY Connect Newsroom - Ramandeep Kaur, Feb 13, 2026 5:49 PM - REPORT AN ERROR

A four-day coordinated enforcement operation on Vancouver Island has led to multiple arrests, drug seizures and the removal of weapons, as police agencies worked together to disrupt organized crime activity in the region.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia conducted the deployment from January 29 to February 1, partnering with West Shore RCMP, Saanich Police Department and Victoria Police Department. The initiative focused on gang-related activity and intelligence-led enforcement aimed at reducing the availability of illegal drugs and preventing violence.

During the operation, officers seized approximately one kilogram of suspected illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. Police also confiscated about $14,500 in cash, along with bear spray and a knife. Authorities said more than 27 investigative files were generated and seven people were arrested as part of the effort.

Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha, media relations officer for the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, said the deployment highlighted the value of coordinated policing across jurisdictions. He said collaboration between specialized provincial units and local departments strengthens enforcement efforts against organized crime networks operating in British Columbia.

Sergeant Dave Vunic of the West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit said access to provincial resources and expertise enhanced local intelligence work and contributed to what he described as strong enforcement outcomes aimed at improving community safety.

Police say such deployments are designed to proactively disrupt organized crime before incidents of violence occur, particularly amid ongoing concerns across British Columbia about toxic drug deaths and gang-related activity.
