Kelowna RCMP, provincial gang unit seize weapons and drugs after enforcement operation

BY Connect Newsroom - Jasmine Singh, Jan 23, 2026 6:37 PM - REPORT AN ERROR

Police officers display seized weapons and drugs following a joint enforcement operation in Kelowna.

Police in Kelowna say a joint enforcement and training effort with a provincial gang unit has led to dozens of arrests and the removal of weapons and drugs from the community.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team worked alongside Kelowna RCMP and officers from across the Okanagan between January 12 and January 16. The operation focused on identifying repeat violent offenders while also providing specialized training to local officers on weapons, firearms, and drug interdiction.

According to police, the multi day initiative resulted in more than 20 new investigations, 28 arrests, and the seizure of over 20 weapons, including a carbine replica. Officers also confiscated a significant quantity of illegal drugs and approximately $5,000 in cash.

Kelowna RCMP say the collaboration is part of an ongoing effort to address organized crime and related violence in the region, as gang related activity and drug trafficking continue to be a concern for communities throughout the Okanagan.

Sergeant Scott Powrie of the Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit says partnerships with specialized provincial teams help strengthen local policing efforts while improving overall community safety.
