One man dead and one injured in serious crash

BY Connect Newsroom, Sep 29, 2025 5:56 PM - REPORT AN ERROR

Police are investigating after a two-vehicle collision claimed the life of one driver and seriously injured another Saturday afternoon.

On September 27, 2025 at 1:30 p.m., the Oceanside RCMP received a report of a serious two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 near Cameron Lake. An eastbound Honda Civic appeared to have lost control on a series of curves where it impacted with a westbound Chevy Impala. The Civic subsequently became engulfed in flames and the sole occupant died at the scene. The driver of the Impala, a 70-year-old Alberta man, was extricated and taken to hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. His ongoing condition has not been confirmed at this time.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The deceased driver has not been officially identified; however, the family of the registered owner of the vehicle has been notified of the fatal crash.

While the investigation is in the early stages and all causal factors have not yet been determined, police believe speed and road conditions may have played a role in the crash.

“Every fatal crash is a preventable tragedy,” said Staff Sergeant Travis De Coene of the Oceanside RCMP. “With winter weather approaching, motorists are urged to slow down and drive to the conditions.”

Anyone with any information or dash camera video of the crash is asked to contact the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
