U.S. President Donald Trump says negotiations aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine are approaching a critical stage following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida over the weekend.

Speaking after the meeting on Sunday, Trump said progress has been made toward a potential peace agreement, although several key issues remain unresolved. He indicated that discussions are ongoing and suggested greater clarity could emerge within the next few weeks.

According to information shared by both sides, the talks focused on long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and the future status of the Donbas region, which has been a central flashpoint since Russia’s invasion. No formal timeline or detailed framework for a final agreement was announced.

Zelensky later said Ukraine has secured preliminary assurances on security guarantees as part of a possible settlement. On Monday, he stated that the United States has proposed providing Ukraine with security guarantees for a period of up to 15 years, though specifics of enforcement or international involvement remain unclear.

The discussions have drawn attention from European allies. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed progress on security guarantees in a social media post, signaling continued international engagement as diplomatic efforts intensify.
