Two people were found dead Sunday night after a recreational vehicle caught fire in a residential area of Surrey, prompting an emergency response and a temporary evacuation of a nearby home.
Surrey Police Service says officers and firefighters were called to the scene near 102 Avenue and 122 Street shortly before 9 p.m. Emergency crews arrived to find the RV fully engulfed in flames, with heavy fire conditions visible from the street.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and police say two bodies were discovered inside the vehicle once the fire was extinguished. The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The intensity of the fire led to the evacuation of a neighbouring house as a precaution. Authorities say the home was not damaged, and residents were later allowed to return.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Surrey Police Service is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact investigators, as crews continue to examine the scene.
