President Trump’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has warned that the United States may pull out of its mediation efforts in the Russia-Ukraine peace deal if significant progress toward a ceasefire is not achieved soon.

Speaking after a visit to Paris on Friday, Rubio stated that the US cannot continue these efforts for many more weeks or months and has many other priorities to focus on.

Russia, which has been attacking Ukraine since 2022, has set numerous conditions for a potential ceasefire. Meanwhile, the United States has been actively involved in supporting Ukraine, providing $350 billion worth of weapons to aid its defense against Russia.

Additionally, reports suggest that the US is attempting to finalize a mineral deal with Ukraine. The Trump administration has reportedly linked this mineral deal to the assistance provided, demanding valuable resources from Ukraine in exchange for the substantial military aid.
