In response to the tragic April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, that claimed 26 innocent lives, including many tourists, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a retaliatory measure.

However, the operation sparked controversy when Pakistani celebrities, including actors Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan, condemned it on social media. While their posts have been blocked in India following the government’s action against Pakistani artists after the Pahalgam attack, screenshots of their comments have circulated widely on Twitter.
