The popular Bollywood film franchise Oh My God is preparing for a large-scale return, with industry reports suggesting actor Rani Mukerji may join Akshay Kumar in the upcoming instalment. While no official announcement has been made, the reported casting has generated significant attention across the Hindi film industry.
If confirmed, the film would mark the first on-screen pairing of Mukerji and Kumar, two actors with long-standing careers and strong box office histories. Trade analysts say the combination could broaden the appeal of the franchise, which is known for blending social commentary with mainstream storytelling.
According to reports, the new film is currently in the pre-production stage, with shooting expected to begin in May 2026. The project is said to remain under the direction of Amit Rai, who also helmed the previous instalment and received critical recognition for addressing contemporary social issues through a commercial format.
The Oh My God series has previously sparked public discussion around faith, belief systems and institutional practices, themes that resonated with audiences in India and abroad, including South Asian communities in Canada.
