Ever since the glittering Joy Awards lit up Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on January 17, Turkish star Hande Erçel has found herself unexpectedly dominating conversations in India. While the event celebrated global cinema and stardom, it was a social media misunderstanding involving Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan that truly set the internet buzzing.
The drama began when a video from the awards night started circulating online. In the clip, Hande could be seen filming her close friend and fellow host Amina Khalil backstage. However, as Shah Rukh Khan appeared on stage, many viewers jumped to conclusions, assuming the Turkish actress was recording the Bollywood superstar out of admiration.
Fuel was added to the fire when a supposed screenshot of Hande’s Instagram story went viral. The image claimed she had written a sharp clarification, allegedly referring to Shah Rukh Khan as an “uncle” and denying being his fan. The post quickly spread across platforms, triggering outrage, memes, and heated debates among fans.
With just two words, the actress shut down the chaos. Responding directly to the claim, she wrote: “This is fake.” That brief reply was enough to dismantle the entire narrative and expose the story as fabricated.
