Punjabi film and television actor Mandy Takhar has been granted a divorce by mutual consent, following an order passed by the Saket District Court in New Delhi on Thursday.

The family court approved a joint petition filed by Takhar and her husband, Shekhar Kaushal, after recording statements from both parties. The decision marks the acceptance of the first motion in the divorce proceedings, which is a key legal step under Indian family law.

Takhar’s counsel, Ishan Mukherjee, confirmed that the court has formally allowed the initial divorce application. He said the process was completed as per legal requirements but declined to share details regarding the terms and conditions agreed upon by the two sides.

According to sources familiar with the case, both parties had mutually agreed to separate and approached the court together to seek a legal dissolution of their marriage. The proceedings were conducted before the family court at the Saket district complex.

The case is expected to move to the next legal stage within the timeline prescribed by law, after which the divorce may be finalized.
